THE ASH-SCARRED CONTINENT
The world inherited by the Pack-Kin is a shattered, post-apocalyptic landmass permanently scarred by the hubris of the Old World. Known simply as the Ash-Scarred Continent, this landmass sits isolated amid a churning, toxic ocean the Pack-Kin call "The Black Wash."
The State of the World
The Black Wash waters are a viscous, irradiated sludge that devours any organic matter that lingers too long on the shoreline. The sky above is perpetually bruised—a swirling canvas of dark grays, unnatural purples, and sickly greens, choked by a high-altitude layer of particulate matter that prevents the sun from ever shining at full strength.
This world is not merely a backdrop; it is an active, hostile entity that the Pack-Kin must negotiate with daily. The continent is fractured into distinct ecological zones, each shaped by the specific nature of the Old World's collapse in that area.
NORTHERN LOWLANDS: The Pale Desert
The Northern Lowlands form a vast, hauntingly quiet expanse of compacted ash, calcified soil, and frozen, pulverized rock. Before the cataclysm, this region was the continent's agricultural heartland, a massive basin of fertile valleys and automated farming super-structures. Now, the cataclysm has bleached this region entirely, leaving behind a sterile, white desert that stretches for hundreds of miles.
Topography, Geography & Hazards
Sweeping dunes of heavy, bone-white ash dominate the landscape, constantly shifting and reforming with the winds. The sky in the North is the clearest on the continent, yet it is always veiled by a permanent, high-altitude silver haze. The temperature plummets drastically, trapped in an almost perpetual, dry winter where violent Ash-Blinds reduce visibility to absolute zero.
Pack-Kin Integration: Domain of the Silken
The Silken thrive in this desolate beauty. The flat, open terrain allows them to utilize their immense speed and long-range binocular vision to spot shifting topography miles in advance. Packs that settle here are nomadic or subterranean, building elaborate "Warren-Citadels" in excavated highways.
SOUTHERN RUINS: The Drowned Labyrinth
The Southern Ruins stand in stark contrast to the sterile North. This is a chaotic, vertical maze of decaying urban sprawl, rusted industrial sectors, and toxic, flooded marshlands. It is the corpse of a coastal megalopolis, now reclaimed by a twisted, hyper-aggressive ecology fueled by chemical runoff and heat.
Topography, Geography & Hazards
Crumbling skyscrapers, wrapped in thick, mutated vines, lean against one another over flooded streets. The climate here is overwhelmingly humid and oppressive. Acid Monsoons condense from the chemical smog, and entire floors of skyscrapers give way without warning due to structural rot.
Pack-Kin Integration: Domain of the Vulpine
This vertical jungle is the ultimate playground for the Vulpine. Their small size and prehensile agility allow them to traverse the city via high-altitude ziplines and precarious steel beams. They live in highly fortified "Roosts" built into the uppermost floors of stable skyscrapers.
EASTERN WASTE: The Crucible
The Eastern Waste is a brutal, unforgiving blast zone. It is the site where the cataclysm's destructive weaponry hit with the most concentrated force. It is a rugged, crater-pocked nightmare of cracked earth, tectonic upheaval, and lingering, lethal radiation.
Topography, Geography & Hazards
The land is scarred by massive, overlapping impact craters forming jagged mountain ranges of scorched black rock. The Shimmer (invisible pockets of extreme radiation) shifts across the landscape like ghosts. Violent static-storms lash the ground with erratic blue lightning.
Pack-Kin Integration: Domain of the Lupine
Only the Lupine have the raw physical endurance to mount prolonged expeditions into the East. Their thick double coats protect them from extreme temperature shifts, and their immense strength defends against apex predators. They establish heavily fortified Forward Operating Bases on the borders to run retrieval missions.
THE EPICENTER: The Black Spire City
Sitting ominously at the very center of the continent, bordering all three regions, is the Epicenter. Though it remains unlabelled on your map, its presence exerts a gravitational pull on the entire world. It is a hyper-dense thicket of monolithic, blackened skyscrapers that pierce the cloud layer.
The Environment & Taboo
The architecture here defies the destruction seen elsewhere. The buildings did not crumble; they petrified, turning into a strange, heat-absorbing black material. The city is enveloped in a permanent hurricane of dark purple clouds.
The Epicenter is universally declared a "Dead Zone" by every Pack-Kin elder. None shall enter. None shall scavenge. It is widely believed to be the exact point where the Old World tore the sky open, the ground zero of the cataclysm. Those few who return are changed—their fur bleached entirely white, their minds fractured.
